Owls

Hi everyone! Megan here! So.....TA DA!! What do you guys think of the new layout? Love it? Hate it? Thoughts anyone? Well, I personally love it. I'm a little biased though. I just spent nearly a week and half designing it. You guys have no idea how many backgrounds I created before I found one that everyone was happy with. Over all though, I think it came out pretty well. If you guys haven't guessed already; I'm owl crazy. So, to introduce this new owl layout, I made owl cupcakes!

How cute! Honestly, I made these cupcakes for Labor Day. I thought it would be nice share them with you to celebrate this awesome new layout though. Besides they kinda go with the theme, right? I've seen pictures of these floating around the web everywhere and knew I just had to try them!

Ingredients:

Cupcakes. I used devil's food cake, which I don't recommend using. The batter is WAY to thick and I ended up cutting the tops off the cupcake to make them level. You might have to do this anyway, but probably no where near as much as I had to.

Brown and Orange M&Ms. I used two regular packages of these. Depending on how many cupcakes you decide to make will depend on how many M&Ms  you're gonna need.

One package of Oreo cookies.

Chocolate Frosting. I thought vanilla frosting might be cool too. You can make snowy owls. Like Hedwig!

Directions:

1. Level out your cupcakes if need be.

2. Frost your cupcakes with whatever frosting you decided to go with. This doesn't have to be perfect guys.

3. Twist apart two Oreos. Or just pull apart. This is actually harder than it looks. The cream in Oreos is a lot softer now. When I was a kid  the cream was a lot thicker. I found that twisting them broke the cream onto both sides of the cookie, which is not what you want. Mess around with it. Eventually, you'll find a method that will work for you.

4.Grab two brown M&Ms. Place them M side down on one of the far sides of the Oreos with cream.

5. Place the Oreos with the M&Ms on your cupcake side by side. Each M&M should be right next to each other. Eat the other two halves of the Oreo...or not. I saved mine to make a cookies and cream milkshake. Yummy!

6. Pick out a orange M&M. Red would probably work too, but I just liked the orange ones better.

7. Place your orange M&M right below and between the two Oreos already on your cupcake.

And now you have tastiness and cuteness! These little birds of prey are here just in time for fall. And our new layout! So what do guys think? Yay or Nay?

New Post 3

Hi everyone! Megan here. Is it just me or did this week go by super fast? Probably just me. I've been working on designing a new look for the blog to give it our own unique look. It's been pretty fun, but it's not easy work for a novice like myself. And on top of all that I've been sick. Just a little cold that's not too bad, but I've given it to Alex. He takes a little cold to a whole new level. A little cold makes him believe he's dying of the Spanish flu and all sense of doing things for himself goes completely out the window. He requested soup for dinner last night, because his few sneezes have him convinced he's on death's door. When he goes into these little episodes I just make him the darn soup. But, I know what's really going on. Madden 13 football game came out this week and it wasn't at all what he expected. He's been moping about it since Tuesday. And I feel bad for him. He's been waiting all year for it. So I made him some broccoli cheddar soup. He loved it. I wasn't really that impressed. I think I may have added too much broccoli, but I'm getting off track here.

It was new recipe. New recipes mean extra dirty dishes, at least to me anyway.

How often does this happen to you? It happens to me ALL the time! And it's always the pots. The worst or worst when it comes to washing dishes. Anyway, on to this week's favorite finds.
